This playhouse was a labor of love for my 2 daughters Delilah and Lulu!
It was previously an old tool shed that was literally disgusting …..it was infested with spider webs and dirt and just needed a make-over ASAP. So we cleaned it out and the work really began- Painted , added new windows, built some shelves and added flooring. I combined their 2 favorite colors- Pink and Blue. I went to Home Depot and choose the linoleum flooring squares that were very easy to install and cheap(they come in over a dozen of colors). After painted was done and floors were put in the fun began, I added an 8×10 piece of turf that I got from Home Depot for under 30.00$ for the front porch.
The stools, chalk board table and paper holder and wire hanging baskets were from Ikea. I put painters tape around the ends of the stool legs and spray painted them gold along with the seats. They turned out really cute. Target’s dollar section was the place to go for most of the fun little decor pieces like the twinkle lights and unicorn head, chalk board mini signs and the banners. Obvi every playhouse needs a chalk board- this one is a standard size one from Home Depot that is literally under 10 bucks(you can’t beat it). I collected old baskets around the house and spray painted them gold to match everything else gold and thats where all the toys are stored.
A book nook was the perfect little addition that was as simple as adding some floor pillows and hanging some baskets on hooks. I did the same thing with the Snack baskets. It is so funny because my girls want to go in there just for the snacks!!!! I finished it off with a rug from Homegoods.
My poor husband had to sleep in there on Easter eve and the girls were so nervous that the “Easter Bunny” was going to miss our place because they weren’t in their beds..so I had to wake up at 5:30AM and hide all the eggs in the yard and by the playhouse and all of a sudden I could hear little voices in the house whispering, so I had to put my hood from my bathrobe over head and start hopping around like a bunny in case they looked outside. The things you do for your kids..geeze!
